YouTube – animated lullaby for Renee & Jeremy Its a big world
It all started with a simple idea, really: to make kids’ music that adults could enjoy, not just tolerate – a collection of original songs for parents who appreciate the likes of Jack Johnson, Nick Drake, and Aimee Mann. The result is a treasure chest of luminous harmonies and sophisticated lullabies. Quiet time music for the whole family to enjoy together.

My darling sister Gro shared a the link with me a few days ago. I love the sweet and grown-up friendly atmosphere created by Renee and Jeremy on this album. They have a very lovely website, too.

Enjoy!

Fabric Memory Game, originally uploaded by lutterlagkage.

I’ve been working on a project for Japanese Excite for a while. This is one of the projects I came up with.

I am terrible at throwing things out. I keep the tiniest scraps, thinking that I might need then one day for some project. This is a fun way to work through the pile of scraps making it a very sustainable and fulfilling project.

It will teach you kid to appreciate funky fabrics, will improve hand-eye coordination, train memory and spatial intelligence and so much more… You can let your child pick the fabrics if you make it for a bigger child and you can add an endless number of pieces to you game to increase difficulty level.

The thing I love about this game is also that it’s a very tactile game. I used all cotton fabrics for the pieces and though they’re all fairly the same weight and quality, you can feel slight difference in the weave and thread of each piece of fabric. I love the fact that this game might strengthen your child’s (and your own) ability to feel even little nuances and differences and making you focus and concentrate. I think it’s very sensuous in that respect. And I think toys for kids should be sensuous and playing should be a sensual experience!

The idea and the pictures are kind of self-explanatory but I’ll post a proper tutorial sometime soon.

It’s official! I’ve got a blog! But I’ll keep it quiet until I get the hang of it. Until I find my balance.

GHEEZZ! why do I continue making life more challenging? Basically because I can’t help myself; I’m curious, I’m alive and I want to share.
